Hot & Spicy Pizza with Chilli Olives

The secret ingredient your pizza’s been missing - Spicy Sichuan Chilli Olives. Bringing a whole lot of flavour and the perfect amount of heat.

INGREDIENTS:
1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
1/2 cup tomato sauce or pizza sauce
1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
100g (3.5 oz) salami, thinly sliced
1 cup mushrooms, thinly sliced
1/2 cup spicy olives, pitted and sliced (like spicy chili or jalapeño-stuffed olives)
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra spice)
1 tablespoon olive oil
Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

METHOD:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.

  2. Prepare the Dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet or pizza peel lined with parchment paper.

  3. Assemble the Pizza: Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.

  4. Add Toppings: Arrange the salami slices, mushrooms, and spicy olives over the cheese. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top. Add red pepper flakes for extra spice, if desired.

  5. Bake the Pizza: Drizzle the pizza with a bit of olive oil, then transfer it to the preheated oven (or onto the hot pizza stone). Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and a few cracks of black pepper. Slice and serve hot.
